When i saw top movie ranking i found this one but my point of view is this this movie is good but also made a hope for jail broken theme. is also not a good over all good example for best hope. OVERALL SCORE: 9.8/10 = A+ The Shawshank Redemption served as a message of hope to Hollywood as well. More than any film in memory, it proved there is life after box office. Besting Forrest and Fiction, it ran solely on strong word of mouth and became the hottest rented film of 1995. It currently sits at #2 in the IMDb's Top 250 Films, occasionally swapping spots with The Godfather as the top ranked film of all time. redemption indeed. You really need to see it multiple times to appreciate them all. Several reviews have tried to boil this movie down into a few phrases, usually not doing it justice. This movie is about the growing and intimate friendship of the two main characters, and is possibly the best male friendship movie ever made.
If only Steven King would stick to movies like this and Stand By Me, instead of the supernatural horror films. His story-telling prowess is unmatched.
Morgan Freeman once again shows his incredible abilities, and this performance ranks with his great portrayal in Glory! He has an uncanny knack for helping you know a character better than it's screentime should allow. You just know who Red is in this film, in your heart.
HBO's showing several years ago included a couple of cut-out scenes that were fantastic, and are worth looking for if you like this movie.

I relate so much to what Red said, and I get it. Yes I would definitely go back in time to stop my younger self from making the wrong choices he did. Unfortunately I can never be my younger self anymore. All I can do is take responsibility for my actions, do my penance, and hope for the best with the current version of myself. People may or may not accept who I am now, but in the end its all thats left of me and I gotta learn to love that person still.
