Sand Castles

We take our shoes and stocking off

And play barefoot in the sand.

Then with our shovels and pails we build

A castle that's truly grand.

砂のお城

靴もくつしたも脱いで

素足で砂の上、遊ぶんだ。

そして　スコップとバケツで

本当に大きな大きなお城を建てるんだ。

Spring  and Summer

Ann's favorite time of year is spring,

When she spends happy hours

Walking in the fields with friends

And picking pretty flowers.

Carol likes the summer best

Because it's such a treat

To have a picnic in the woods

And have cakes and berries to eat.

Swinging

On a swinging, we like to go.

I hold Baby very tight.

Bill holds Buffy with all his might.

Fro and to! Fro and to!

Swinging is lots of fun to do.

漕いで　前へ！　漕いで　前へ！

ブランコで、行くの。

赤ん坊をしっかりと抱いて

ビルはバフィーを出来る限りぎゅっと抱く。

前へ　漕いで！前へ　漕いで！

ブランコは楽しい事だらけ。

訳してみて：アンティークの絵柄が非常に懐かしく可愛らしい、仕掛け絵本。大きさは、縦16㎝、横13㎝程度の、とても小さな本である。イギリスやアメリカでは、このような、手のひらサイズの本がとても種類豊富に出版されているから面白い。ミニブックと呼ばれる種の本なのだろうか？なんだか読書文化が大変奥深く豊かなようで、日本でも今後、普及されてよい分野だと思う。
