There are factual "liberties" taken. Fetishists for pure accuracy will be displeased, undoubtedly. But this film is a triumph, regardless. It's not for nothing that comparisons between the vision of Rome given here and Hitler/Speer's new Berlin are drawn; even the music is inspired by Wagner. This is an epic allegory, of sorts. It's about much, much more than the spilling of blood for the entertainment of the masses; it's about the culture that asks for such amusements, and the possible responses to that brutality. This movie is very, very surprising - I was expecting a wonderful Ridley Scott film, and got an astounding, funny, sad, terrible film. It will make you think, and feel.

From the beginning battle scene I knew I was in for an awesome movie. Gladiator tops my list as the best movie I have ever seen, or at least second best. It has everything from great story, to great acting, to amazing fighting sequences. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!
At the time of this movie, Gladiator has won 'Best Picture' and 'Best Actor' Russle Crowe, and other academy awards which I feel it really deserves.
If you haven't seen this movie, then go get it now.
Diane Kruger still looks the same. I like how the praetorian guard is actually represented in the whole film, they had the power to actually decide an emperor's fate, either with killing him, or just turning from him to someone else. Obviously here its more like an emotional turn, but still i like the message.
