I think the problem with movies like The Purge and The Hunt is that they victimize the conservative 1. I understand the fantastical element about it but it really just ends up making the audience feel bad for them and I strongly disagree that if something like the Hunt or the Purge happened, it would not be to the benefit of the liberals or the down trodden minorities/lower class. The conservatives would be the ones taking advantage of those situations, not hiding in their mcMansions and waiting for the next day to come. Theres a reason the original premise for the Hunt, Richard Connell's The Most Dangerous Game, had a conservative multi-millionaire as the hunter. It's about the not so subtle metaphor (and unfortunately all too common reality of the last few years) that conservative, racist white nationalists think we are no better than animals. We have not shown signs of what Trump claims to be true racism against the elite, we have not slaughtered hundreds and thousands in the name of God/Trump/money/oil. Its a preposterous notion that the liberal minorities would be the ones hunting the conservative elite.
