This movie to me was less about the cult and more about the main character, the entire movie is her processing through grief and finding a new family. There's so much I can say about this movie but I can only say that this director continues to surprise me and I thank him for impacting me the way he did. HI! Imo, the whole movie is a metaphor for dealing with loss via breakup. The whole thing is just her trip, her experience of it. The family doesn't understand exactly what she's going through, and cuz of that are not there for her (don't respond to her) so they die, it's about feeling alone in the process of letting go, from denying the issues, to regaining clarity and finally, personal strength. And all throug the eyes of a girl depicted as a a character with inferiority complex and/or impostor syndrome, smthng many ppl keep struggling with on a regular basis) who by the end finally doesn't apologise for her own choices, and in this instance- burning the bridge (the temple) instead she smiles from relief. It's rly a beautiful movie ♡ but I def wouldn't label it as horror. Maybe a psychological drama/ thriller. Reminded me a bit of the Holy Mountain from Jodorowsy (you are excrement, you can change yourself into gold. also a MUST watch.
