I just love this scene so much. Hadley supposedly starting “sobbing like a little girl” when he was being arrested and at the start of the movie he beat a prisoner to death for crying. He just knew the same hell he put his prisoners through was waiting for him and same with the warden and thats why he killed himself. Rehabilitated is just a word. A politician's word so that young fellas like yourself would wear a suit and tie and have a job. What do you really want to know? Am I sorry for what I did? There's not a day that goes by that I feel regret. Not because I'm in here, but because you think I should. I look back at the way I was then. A young, stupid kid who committed that terrible crime. I wanna talk to him. I wanna try to talk some sense into him, tell him the way things are, but I can't. That kid is long gone. And this old man is all there's left. I gotta live with that. Rehabilitated is just a bullshit word. So you go on and stamp your form, sonny and stop wasting my time. Because to tell you the truth, I don't give a shit. Arguably those are the best words ever in this scene. Oh who am I kidding, the whole damn movie is the best.

No one cares what the 5402nd user has to say about this masterpiece. But I need to get it off my chest; this movie was revolutionary. It was refreshing to see a movie so grounded in reality have a happy ending. It reiterated the fact that hope and happiness are concepts grounded in reality.
It was quite cathartic. We sit through most of the movie as a sobbing mess, when different characters die unfair deaths or unspeakable things happen to the protagonist. The entire concept of the movie itself was quite depressing. But then the end comes along, and you see the rain and you feel relief. I remember just laughing as I watched the climax, because I felt genuine happiness for the characters. When a movie is able to do that you know it is good.
The acting was phenomenal, the directing was strategic, the writing was fantastic and the cinematography was good as well. I absolutely love this movie, and recommend that you watch it as well. I assure you that even if dramas, or prison movies are not your thing, you WILL enjoy it
