Gudegast's strength as a director is evident in the choreography and execution of the shoot-outs, as they are loud, violent and kinetic. He is on less certain ground when it comes to things like developing Nick and Merrimen beyond one-dimensional types and making the heist more than a sum of things we have previously seen/heard of. This is Gudegast's first time behind the camera. He has a few screenplays to his credit, including London Has Fallen. All in all the plot bears many resemblance with "The Heat" with cops and gangsters not disliking each other, in the end.
