Traumatised and still struggling to come to terms with an appalling family tragedy, the American graduate student, Dani, turns to her self-centred and distant boyfriend, Christian, against the backdrop of an inescapable break-up. An interesting concept ruined by trying to be too artistic and original. However, many critics will praise this film as they tend to disregard most films that are not original.
While the quality of the performances were good, I think that if the writers had focused more attention on the hallucinogenic content of the story and less attention on the ritualistic content, the end result could've been so much better instead of leaving me feeling rather disconnected and sadly, disinterested.
Not the worst film I've ever seen but I certainly wouldn't watch it again.
