The director Josephine Decker and crew brought a strange adaptation about the famous writer, Shirley Jackson. I didn't know what to expect, by the minute everything was constructed like a rollercoaster. The story sets when a famous horror writer and her husband take in a couple and how she gets inspiration to write another book. There was a point where I thought it wasn't my kind of film but suddenly it slightly got my attention I kept welcoming her world of madness. It was interesting the way she psychologically interacts to get what she wants without caring about the consequences. My anticipation was rising every time she spoke, it kept me really fascinated because one will never expect what she was thinking and how harshly and honest her words come out, making it in a way very mysterious.
The music of Tamar-kali was spectacular, she really set the insanity atmosphere. The movie wasn't perfect is still needed a boost of suspense but the music did a great job for one to get wrapped into her world.
The cast was magnificent except Logan Lerman, I didn't feel like he was in his character, but the others gave performances to remember, Elisabeth Moss, Michael Stuhlbarg and Odessa Young. I can feel a nomination for best actress towards Elisabeth Moss, well hoping, she really deserves it, and the way she really breathes in every word for this character was truly magnificent.
