That was the sci-fi gem of last decade, and it is still pretty awesome. But in the past five years it has had competition because of Inception.
Inception is kind of similar to The Matrix in the way of saying that the world around isn't real. The difference is that the real world IS the real world as we know it, but there is special enhanced "dreaming technology" that is commonly used, originally by soldiers, training in the army, and more recently by architects, of which the main character is one.
Dom Cobb is a single parent, who hasn't seen his two children since shortly after his wife Mal died. She committed suicide, because she had been using the dream technology so much, that she could no longer tell if she was using the dream technology or not.
The plot of Inception is quite complex, and that's what I loved about it. It wasn't just a sit back and relax type of movie. You had to b thinking along with the characters, in order to work out what exactly is going on.
The centre plot piece is that in order to get home Cobb needs to plant an 'idea' into the mind of a business company CEO. To do this, he and his team need to go deep into his (the CEO) subconscious, and discover what's hidden there. However Cobb's wife Mal proves to be a problem as Cobb can't stop thinking about her.
The ending is very ambiguous, but I liked it. It cut out at the last minute, before showing the audience whether Cobb is still dreaming or not. I however guessed he wasn't, due to the evidence supplied throughout the film.
This movie is a complicated sci-fi movie, that is extremely well made, with a complex, but intriguing plot. It is basically, as I said before, this decades Matrix, and for that reason I give it a 9/10.
