I am from Bangladesh. I have been living in Dhaka City ( the real one) for last 36 years. After watching the movie, I think i should speak for my city.
1. Movie casting was very good. Chris Hemsworth, Randeep Hooda, the kid everyone showed their skills while the director completely lacks his. It is not DHAKA AT ALL. I really doubt if they have seen the city even by google.
2. Sultana Kamal Bridge" is way ahead from Dhaka city.
accent heard in background seems absolutely wrong- I have never ever heard of this accent enywhere in Bangladesh for the last 36 years - I am also wondering how it occured.
4. Bollywood songs in background (which is also pretty old, like 90's) might confuse the viewer as well. We have our own music.
5. Children were shown in the street carrying guns and using foul languages- really? Which Dhaka is it?
6. Finer detail- the city environment, bakcground activity, vehicle models used for the movie- nothing matches Bangladesh even- let alone " Dhaka City.
Bottom liine-
The movie lacks its context completely. Dhaka is a peaceful city.
Overcrowded. yes.
Heavy Traffic. yes
Air Pollution. yes
Noisey. yes
But it is vibrant in its own way- much safer than many cities of the world. We can find child begger in the street - but definitely not terrorist.
I suggest anyone related to this movie should type " Dhaka" in Google or Wikipedia. They have more information - especially authentic one.
I sincerely apologise for my comments above if it hurts anyone. Any city shown in any movie should reflect its own character - imagination shall be there for sure- but definitely not out of context.
