Genarally a good film some exciting visuals and some good performances first half of the film felt paced very differently from the second. The story was very interesting and had a unique way of being portrayed you can definitely feel the 'Momento' influence. Sound levels were very messy the vocals far too low in places to the point of not being able to hear whats being said with music pieces blasting your ear drums. However people referring to it as this decades 'Matrix' must realise the fact is, that the parts that remind you of this is due to nothing more than them being a direct copy in style and references for example "architechs" and the way people phase in and out of the alternate world feels very matrix etc. Also after reading in other reviews that the plot has been stolen from an animation film called 'Paprika' doesn't fill me with much enthusiasm for the originality of this title. The casting of Keanu Reaves' twin who seemed to have been told to style and speak like Keanu probably wasn't the best move, that besides the weak story line of the film involving some gangsters wanting to take over a business was about as solid as wet trout, designed as a filler for the main plot which is the twist in the film and real central story which was actually about Leonardos character and wife. Wouldn't be such an issue but by the time the film is over you can barely remember the starting goal of the film as the character developments are minimal (other than Leonardo's) and initial story is almost forgotten. Overall some good acting and the humour is very successful, in parts the film felt as tho its trying to be too clever and too many scenes where the cast are explaining the plot almost narrating the story for you felt a bit tedious. Moments of very intense visual effects and a pleasurable experience just don't leave your thinking head at home if your going to watch this because you might have to watch it twice to work parts out. Thanks all first review some may consider a little harsh but a film being ticked 9.3 isn't correct, comments welcome.
