Midsommar is a beautiful film with great performances from the main actors. I really enjoyed Hereditary and I would say Midsommar is on the same level of quality but is way less scary.
I connected a lot with the character played by Reynor, coming out of a similar relationship. I thought both main characters were really well presented and portrayed by Pugh and Reynor. The editing and cinematography were great, way above average.
Sadly, the characters played by Poulter, Jackson Harper and Blomgren never connected with me, even if their performances were good. I though they were way too much unidimensional, especially the one portrayed by Jackson Harper. The relationship between him and the character played by Reynor was difficult to get involved in.
Overall, Midsommar is a great film about grief and relationships. I would recommend it easily if you like movies like Hereditary, The Babadook, The Wicker Man (1973) The Shining and/or The Witch. The movie is kind of slow-paced and contains some really disturbing images.

First of all I don't blame you for hating this. It's challenging stuff. Surreal and disturbing by the creepy mind that brought us Hereditary. This one moves slower but pulls you into its brightly lit daymare. If you go on the ride it will take you lackadaisically into some disturbing stuff. I chose to take the trip.

Slow, confusing, odd - verrryy odd. Not entirely sure what to make of it, but worth watching once.
