The question is not WHY this is the best netflix series but it's WHEN will everyone realize that

'The Silencing' had all the things I love in a film. It had unexpected moments sprinkled throughout, a lead character I liked and wanted to be alright in the end, a whodunnit element and some twists. What more could you ask for from a thriller? This was the type of movie that was coming out every week back in the 90s, and they were all great, yet these days you're lucky if you get one every couple of months and they're not usually as good as they used to be. So when I come across one as well done as this film was it is a rare treat.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from 'Game of Thrones' plays the lead role, and he was a remarkably good lead-man. Not only is he naturally likeable but he is also very easy to sympathise with. His character has had something awful happen to him and so he has become an alcohol and can be quite unpleasant to his ex-wife's husband for example. Sometimes these characters can be very hard to get onboard with if they're played by the wrong actor, but in this case I was happy to look past his flaws and get on-side with him.
As mentioned earlier I really like a good whodunnit. They're incredibly out of fashion these days unfortunately, but 'The Silencing' is a great reminder of how well they can work in cinema. I really enjoyed this movie and would highly recommend people give it a watch.

Angela Dawson: What was the appeal for you in playing this character, Brooks, in The Silencing? Hero Fiennes Tiffin: It was all quite short-notice in terms of that job offer. I was actually away promoting After, and then I was supposed to go home for a few weeks, and then go to The Met Gala, but then I got the offer to play Brooks, which is such a great role It fit almost perfectly within that three-week period after The Met Gala and the next After. The role, itself, was something I wanted to do because I found it compelling but also because it helped balance out with some of the roles I’ve played previously. Going from After to something so different like this and then to go back to do the second After was something I was definitely attracted to. It just seemed like something that was meant to be given the timing of the schedule and how keen they were on me, and how much I was attracted to the character. It very rarely works out that perfectly. Dawson: Brooks is very troubled and for very understandable reasons: he’s suffered abuse from his foster parents, and he has abandonment issues with his older sister who’s recently returned to his life. How did you get into the mindset of this character? Fiennes Tiffin: I did a fair bit of research on the effects of similar childhood trauma on people, and the effects of prescription drugs and the opioid problem. It’s less of an issue in England, so I had to educate myself a bit on that problem (in America). I think the location is felt appropriate to the scenes we were in environmentally and character-wise, so half the job was done for me (as an actor)—the way it was so immersive, the whole environment was, as opposed to being on a set, where it’s completely different inside to what it is outside. Dawson: Your director, Robin Pront, said he wanted the audience to feel that sense of feeling the cold and that they needed “a warming hug. ” Fiennes Tiffin: Yeah, you can see quite early on that he had that style down to a tee. She plays my older sister, and she very much took me under her wing. I felt very much looked-after. With Nicolaj, our big scene together was unfortunately cut, so I didn’t have a lot of time to learn and work with him, but the time I did (get to work with him), I made use of. Then, a few weeks later, the laundry started piling up. Dawson: You’ve been allowed out in London now, where you’ve had a heatwave and everyone was outdoors in the parks. Fiennes Tiffin: It’s super-hot today. It kind of comes and goes. I’ve been here 22 years, and there’s no consistency in London weather. You just kind of wake up and look out the window and see what you get. The seasons don’t mean anything here, I don’t think. I heard it was quite foggy in LA from my friends there. Dawson: Are you reading scripts? Is there light at the end of the tunnel as to when you can go back to work? Fiennes Tiffin: Yeah. In terms of projects, scripts are still floating around and phone calls are still had. Not rolling on anything but if all goes well, maybe early next year, but nothing I can say just yet. Dawson: You have After We Collided coming out on VOD on October 2. Playing Hardin Scott in the original has made you a heartthrob amongst your fans. How is it being admired by so many fans? Fiennes Tiffin: I’m obviously honored and very grateful to them. A lot of the credit must go to Anna Todd, the writer of the books, who created such a great character. All of the fans are so compelled by (Hardin) already. I just had to say the words on the paper. The fans now support me with the same approach as they character they’ve read about. I’m simply happy that I could bring that character to life. Dawson: You’re going to be promoting the release of that film as well? Fiennes Tiffin: Yeah, I’ve actually been doing that, yesterday and today, as we speak. Just gearing up for more work when the work comes. Dawson: Is there a particular role or type of film that you’d like to be in? Fiennes Tiffin: I don’t have a dream role, per se, but if you put me on the spot, I suppose a random role that I’d love to do is an Indiana Jones or James Bond kind of movie. Action, but not just purely action. So, something like that at some point would definitely be something I’d love to do.
