Secretariat, former home in colonial era

The former Burmese Governor's Office is located in downtown Yangon. It was the main boundary of the British colonial period.
On July 19, 1947, General Aung San, eight ministers and others were assassinated here. Even today, at 10.37am on the anniversary of his death, people stop to say a silent prayer and all cars stop and honk their horns in condolence.
The Secretariat is also used for events and attracts large crowds.
