Honestly, I really have no idea what the title actually has to do with this particular movie, especially since we know that Luke passed on at the end of the previous film. Still, I guess there is this burning question in our heads as to who Rey happens to be and where she comes from. Well, considering that this is the last film in the sequel trilogy you can be guaranteed that we find out.
One thing that I have to say though is that this whole surprise thing sort of went out the window with 'Luke, I am your father. Yeah, that was one big reveal, and of course we then find out that Lea is Luke's sister, which obviously made that kiss rather awkward. However, ever since 'The Force Awakens' there has been this questioning as to where Rey fits into all of this, and if she does. Well, she does, but if I were to tell you then that would no doubt ruin the film for those who haven't seen it, but needless to say, it wasn't all that groundbreaking, and in someways a bit lame.
One thing that you probably do know is that a certain Emperor has returned, which honestly, I have to admit was just another one of those tropes that seems to get peddled out that doesn't really work, particularly in this series. Then again, I always saw the films as being the story about the rise and fall of Aniken Skywalker, and these three trilogies really, well, are just add ons so that somebody can squeeze as much out of the franchise as possible.
Sure, the film was fun, and I enjoyed it, but it really just felt like a remake that wasn't quite a remake. Yeah, there were so many things in this film that reminded me of Return of the Jedi that I was almost wanting to roll my eyes multiple times. Sure, it is better than the previous film (in this trilogy that is) but still, I do question what the whole purpose of this story actually was. In a way, it really didn't need to be told, and really only exists for people to get their Star Wars fix. Sure, it does do that, particularly if you happen to be a Star Wars fan, and I doubt that it will be going away any time soon, but personally, I feel that maybe they should just focus more on television series these days.
