水戸街道石橋供養道標 | Mito-kaidou memorial signpost of stone bridge

東京都葛飾区新宿2丁目19-13

この道標は、水戸街道と佐倉道の分岐点に、地域の万人講・不動講・女中講が共同で架橋した27の石橋供養のために立てたものです。建設は安永2年(1773年)から安永6年(1777年)にかけて行われました。石工は新宿の中村佐右衛門で、設立時には道標の頭頂部に仏像が載せられていました。

This memorial signpost of stone bridge was set up for twenty seven stone bridges memorial services those were built by local lecture meeting community (Mannin-kou, Fudo-kou, and Jochu-kou). Construction took place from the Annei 2nd (1773) to 6th (1777). The mason was Nakamura-saemon, and the Buddha statue was posted on the top of the signpost at the time of establishment.
