Aung San Suu Kyi's own father, General Aung San Suu Kyi, is revered in Myanmar and is known as the "Founding Father". He was a leader of the anti-British movement in the British colonial underground, but was assassinated in the former Burmese governorate shortly before the country achieved independence. General Aung San was also a man with close ties to Japan.
